Chaos, Calm, Creativity & Happiness

It's a myth that Happiness requires calm, complacent serenity. If that were true, we would only be happy under calm circumstances. True Happiness flows from action, achievement, accomplishment and activity. "Smooth seas do not make a great mariner." ~ Seneca (4 BCE - 65 AD) If we can learn to be happy during difficult times, finding happiness under normal circumstances is comparatively easy. Rocks in the road become stepping stones to greater strength and success. Overcoming adversity strengthens our confidence, determination and our ability to succeed and be happy under any circumstance. "In Italy for thirty years under the Borgias they had warfare, terror, murder, bloodshed - but they produced Michelangelo, Leonardo da Vinci and the Renaissance. In Switzerland they had brotherly love, five hundred years of democracy and what did that produce - the cuckoo clock!" |
