Chaos, Calm, Creativity & Happiness

By Michele Moore

It's a myth that Happiness requires calm, complacent serenity. If that were true, we would only be happy under calm circumstances. True Happiness flows from action, achievement, accomplishment and activity.

Our happiness moments often come at our most exuberant, creative times. Most people feel extraordinarily happy when they are in their most creative state. Creativity brings energy and excitement.

"Smooth seas do not make a great mariner." ~ Seneca (4 BCE - 65 AD)

If we can learn to be happy during difficult times, finding happiness under normal circumstances is comparatively easy.

Rocks in the road become stepping stones to greater strength and success. Overcoming adversity strengthens our confidence, determination and our ability to succeed and be happy under any circumstance.

"In Italy for thirty years under the Borgias they had warfare, terror, murder, bloodshed - but they produced Michelangelo, Leonardo da Vinci and the Renaissance. In Switzerland they had brotherly love, five hundred years of democracy and what did that produce - the cuckoo clock!"

~ Orson Wells, The Third Man, 1949

Happiness comes with energy and excitement and from action, creativity, activity and achievement.
